Special S.T.E.M. students

Hillcrest Middle School provides a unique opportunity for students who enjoy thinking and creativity. The S.T.E.M. program, directed by Jeff Herold, is an exploratory that leads up to Mountain Ridge High School. S.T.E.M. stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. This class helps students get ready for the future world where your ideas and hard work matter. “STEM is awesome! It’s my favorite part of the day!” said by a 7th grader at Hillcrest. Not only is the teacher amazing, but the students are as well. This past week, we have worked on paper roller coasters. (Below are some pictures taken by Mr. Herold)

S.T.E.M. isn’t like any ordinary class, students drive it. With the instruction manual given, teams of four or five work together to design, create, and experiment with their roller coasters. This year we will be doing many projects and presentations. It is important for kids to understand how to use technology wisely and how to present in front of an audience, no matter how big or small, in future job positions.
