Make a Difference Day!

Millions of people around the world celebrate a day that is devoted to making someone’s’ day, making someone smile, or making someone random feel good and special about themselves. This special day is known as Make A Difference Day.

On Saturday, October 26, 2013 thousands of people will have a common mission and goal to unite to improve or help the lives of others. It doesn’t matter if you are old, young, rich, or poor.  You can do anything to give a helping hand and to show your kindness to others whether it is a friendly hello or smile, sit by or talk to someone you usually would not at lunch, say something kind, or donate to different fundraisers.

There are also larger organizations to participate in like going to a food bank, reading to the less fortunate, doing something nice for people in a hospital, and so much more!

You can check out the link below for a list of projects in our community to participate in, get involved, and ultimately make a difference:

Many participants will be joining with USA Weekend and Points of Light for Make A Difference Day including Newman’s Own, which will be awarding $10,000 to the charities of 10 National Honorees and 3 City Awardees. Also, USA WEEKEND Magazine will feature the All-Star honoree, the 10 National Honorees, and the 3 City Award honorees in a special April 2014 issue.

Corporations, communities, nonprofits, and entire states or individuals plan projects to help those who really desire and need it.   Make A Difference Day is the largest national day of community service.

You can accomplish anything when you take a moment to reflect on the problems that impact our neighborhood, school, and community and figure out a solution, and most importantly act. There is so much that you can do that will change the course of someone’s’ life even if it is one simple act of kindness.

So come on, let’s help out and participate on Make A Difference Day!
