How to Stay Healthy this Thanksgiving

27 Nov 2014 by Kaysey Pietrzykowsky, No Comments »

One of the most important parts of Thanksgiving is the food. With all the delicious types of food it is easy to eat too much, but if you follow these tips you’ll be full and prevent consuming too many calories!

Don’t eat until you are ready to burst, but don’t starve yourself! Eat until you aren’t hungry.

Green beans and mashed potatoes can’t be bad for you, right? Make sure those harmless foods aren’t smothered in butter. Butter and other fats can easily turn those healthy foods into a nightmare.

Avoid turkey skin. Turkey skin is high in fat and calories.

Eat what you want! If you want something, eat it. If it something high in fat, limit your intake of that particular food.

Go easy on side dishes! Even though they may look small, side dishes can quickly add up!

Be sure to chew slowly! Don’t eat your dinner too fast! If you chew slowly your body will feel full quicker.

Try to eat more vegetables. They are less fattening than the rest of your meal.

Some of us probably go to two Thanksgiving dinners. If you do, eat half of what you want to eat at one meal, then eat the rest at the other meal. This ensures that you don’t overeat.

I hope you have a marvelous Thanksgiving!
