How to Nail an Audition

29 Sep 2015 by Adriana Davila, 1 Comment »

Step 1: Practice

Before the big audition, practice. If you are trying out for a sport, practice playing it. If you are trying out for a show, play, skit,or musical, look at your lines. If possible, try to have them memorized. It will really help! And don’t forget to warm up or practice your slate. A slate is the part of a audition when you say your name, age, and the part or team you are trying out for.  You may not end up using it, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Step 2:  Dress accordingly

Whether you are trying out for a spot on the team or a part in a play, the way you dress will greatly impact your performance. If you are trying out for a sport, wear something you can easily move around in. If you are trying out for a spot in a play, skit, or musical, try to dress like the character you most want. Dressing accordingly will not only affect your performance, it will show the judges or observers that you took the time to consider that factor of a audition. It will also boost your self esteem!

Step 3:  Posture

Believe it or not, the way you hold yourself will greatly affect the choice of the judges! When you walk into the audition, stand up straight. When you slouch, it shows lack in confidence. Look at the judges when you can, and keep a smile on your face. Finally, stay relaxed. Try not to get jittery, it can cause you to forget lines, lose your place, trip, or stumble. Just stay calm and have fun!

  1. An outstanding share! I have just forwarded this
onto a coworker who had been doing a little homework on this.
And he in fact bought me breakfast due to the fact that I discovered it for
him… lol. So allow me to reword this…. Thank YOU for the
meal!! But yeah, thanks for spending some time to talk about this issue here on your internet site.
