Bobcats in the Scottsdale Area?

30 Sep 2013 by Ian Colligan, No Comments »

Friday at Chaparral Park, in Scottsdale Arizona, a police warning was released after a bobcat was sighted at the park. This warning was released after an anonymous park employee sighted the bobcat in the bushes by Hayden Road. People are being advised to stay away from thick foliage and to keep their children and/or pets away from the general area.

Though some are worried about their pets safety, most are wondering how exactly did a bobcat manage to find its way to the middle of the Scottsdale area. Now, this is not the first time something along this line has happened. In Scottsdale, on March 25, 2011 a family of three mountain lions were spotted at the fourth hole of the Desert Mountain Golf Club. While it is not common for big cats to be seen in the Scottsdale area, it does happen and it is a rare sight.

The officials of the Chaparral Park will not be making any attempts to remove the bobcat from the area unless it becomes aggressive and/or aggravated. However, they are doing their best to keep visitors to the park a safe distance from the bobcat if they manage to see it.
