British-born philosopher, speaker and writer Alan Watts became extensively popular during his lifetime and is still remembered today for his messages. Over the course of many years, Alan Watts developed an audio library of nearly 400 talks and wrote more than 25 books during his lifetime! January 6th, 2015, marked the 100-year birthday of Alan Watts.

Alan Watts is best remembered as an interpreter of Zen Buddhism, and, in general, of Indian and Chinese philosophy. He earned a reputation as one of the most entertaining interpreters of Eastern philosophy in the West. Beginning at the shocking age of 16, he wrote an article for the journal of the Buddhist Lodge in London. This accomplishment would then lead him to yet another great achievement.

Watts had developed a following audience of millions who were enriched through his books, recordings, radio broadcasts, and public talks. He had traveled all of the time during his lifetime. Unfortunately, after returning from an intensive international lecture tour, Alan Watts had died during his sleep in November of 1973. However, his thoughts and messages still live on today.

Watts created a legacy, which still lives on today, and this expands influence and appreciation within today’s day and age and generations to come.  For example, check out the video below where you will hear Alan Watts narrating in the background:
