2016 Honeywell Fiesta Bowl Aerospace Challenge

4 Nov 2015 by Mikayla Bridges, No Comments »

Two teachers and four girls are planning to find a way to create a lunar base and collect an energy source that could change the world as we know it. Mr. Herold and Mrs. Halal have let our school be apart of the Honeywell Fiesta Bowl Aerospace Challenge, this is a big thing because of you guys, so thanks! The team for this Lunar challenge includes Andrea V., Mikayla B., Isabella M., and Madi J.

In this challenge the team has to build a Lunar base society, find a way to store and mine Helium 3, build a board game, and present it all in under ten minutes. And these girls are up for the many challenges they are about to face, what a feat! This lunar base must include, life-support for 2 years and up to 50 crew members. The board game has to represent the team’s lunar base, this board game should resemble something like Life or Monopoly.

This team of girls must research the past, present, and future of the moon in order to understand how to complete this Lunar project. This research may include, what NASA is planing for a Lunar base and what we can do with Helium 3. Let’s clarify this, Helium 3 is found on the Moon and this could be used as fuel for nuclear power plants. This fuel is seldom to Earth but there is thought to be a significant supply on the Moon, this fuel may change the way we supply many things.

Let’s show our support to this group of girls for putting themselves up front and learning to work as a team to solve problems. What we are talking about now, hasn’t been created yet and these girls are willing to put their heads together and come up with a plan for the future. How many are willing to put themselves in this team’s place? So lets support Hillcrest at the Honeywell Fiesta Bowl Aerospace Challenge!
